how to overcome self limiting beliefs, self doubt, self limiting beliefs

Do you feel like you are capable of so much more in life? Are your self limiting beliefs holding you back?

Don’t worry you are not alone. All of us, whether we realize it or not, go through moments where our mind and thoughts can become our biggest enemy. Here, we will go over how to delete those self limiting beliefs and learn how to find your inner power, so you can go ‘full out’ on life! Its time you learn how to use your mind to your advantage and get further, take risks, and do the things that your limiting beliefs would’ve never allowed you to do.

A Mind Divided

Before we get into it, I want to touch base and give a little back story of what is happening behind the scenes in our mind when our self limiting beliefs rise. As many of you may already know, there are two main parts to our mind, the conscious, and the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind, is one that we are all familiar with, it is the part of our mind that processes all of our decisions, and thoughts, even those self limiting thoughts.

The subconscious, is the part where all the processing happens and regulation for our entire body that we don’t even realize its happening. This part regulates our digestive system, breathing, blinking, and much more. It also stores our beliefs and skills, and many other things of yourself that makes you truly unique. In essence, we don’t have ANY control of the subconscious part of our mind, unless we learn how to do so. As I like to say our mind, is a muscle, and just like any other muscle in our body in order to strengthen it and get it to work to our advantage takes time, consistency and dedication. Its not an overnight process, I wish it was haha.

Connect to Your Mind

The first step in deleting our self limiting beliefs, would be to really first connect to our mind and really understand where the roots are. In other words, where the heck are these thoughts coming from?! Haha. This is so important. Just like any other problem, you need to come to the cause of the issue to be able to find a solution. I want you to take note and really be mindful of what particular situation or circumstance causes these thoughts to come up.

For example, you may be scrolling on Instagram and see unrealistic “perfect” curated people, and then BOOM, there pops a negative thought/limiting belief about yourself.

To add on, some examples of self limiting beliefs could be anything that you tell yourself that stops you from taking action, and overall delaying you from reaching success. This could be anything like “My voice is so ugly I cant make a podcast.” or “I cant workout because I dont have time.” These are just a few examples, the amounts of self limiting beliefs we have can be endless.

A Mind Seeking Comfort

The reality is our mind tell us these things because it likes to be comfortable. If it was easy to workout, or start a business, or even get in front of the camera to record a video, everyone would be living their dream life and achieving all there goals easily.

Our mind likes to put us in safe, comfortable situations.

Now you may be thinking, “Ellen, What do you mean by comfortable?!”

Our minds are programmed to be in fight or flight mode due to human evolution and always doing whatever it took to survive. Obviously, now the times have drastically changed, but our minds are still programmed the same way. For instance, you want to start a new business for the first time, and as things start to get more real your mind may want to come in and tell you “You’re not smart enough,” Or “Only men can be successful and have businesses.”

As you’re reading this you may laugh, and its silly to think about. But this is an example of putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation. Automatically our mind wants to self sabotage us and our goals, so it can go back to being comfortable. But we CAN’T let this happen. By giving our self limiting thoughts the power to hold us back, we slowly start to believe that these things are true even though they 100% are not. As time goes on we start to tie these false thoughts in as our identity.

Step 1: Do Something Foreign

Now you may be thinking “OMG I have so many self limiting beliefs!! How do I fix this?”

The most important thing to know is your identity determines your success. Our beliefs about ourselves have the power to create and have the power to destroy.

The key to delete these self limiting thoughts is to push your brain everyday to do something that may feel uncomfortable to you at first. Something that you dont do in your everyday routine, and is totally foreign.

You have to train your brain to do those challenging uncomfortable things. This helps challenge your identity and it gives you the momentum to do even more and push towards your goals.

Step 2: Delete Negative Thoughts

The strongest force in the human personality is the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves. If you tell yourself “I am capable of building a 7 figure business”. Or say “I am strong enough to push through this workout.” Then you will find a way to do so.

Haha, there is no magic trick to this. Its all about shifting your thought process on your identity and how you see yourself.

To take action on deleting these negative thoughts right now, I want you to identify 3-5 limiting beliefs you may have about yourself.

Now, flip these beliefs. Instead of saying “Im not smart enough”. Say “I am so smart, and I have all the resources I need within me to do this”. The reality is that YOU DO have all the resources. And you ARE CAPABLE of reaching all of your goals. No matter what your mind tells you.

Write down all of these positive flips on your limiting beliefs.

Some examples could be:

– “I am fearless.”

– “All the power I need to accomplish my goals is within me.”

– “I can create a 7 figure business.”

We need to be able to shift our mindset from being full of fear, which then leads to self limiting beliefs, to have a mindset that is full of abundance.
